Joint Service with the Sydney Rotuman Congregation
It was a joy and blessing to share with our Rotuman friends at our service last Sunday 24 September 2023.
It was great to catch up with old friends and share fellowship over morning tea.
Congregation Update: Marie
Our prayers and good wishes go to Marie after emergency hip surgery.
Marie will be in hospital for a few days before going to rehabilitation.
Referendum Pre-Poll will not be held in the church.
The Pre-Poll for Reid will be held at Concord Community Centre, 1A Gipps Street Concord from 8.30 am Tuesday 3rd October until Friday 13th October.
Local voting venues Saturday 14th October include Five Dock Public School, Domremy College, Russel Lea Public School, Abbotsford Public School,
Chiswick Community Centre, Drummoyne Senior Citizens Centre, Drummoyne Public School, Canada Bay Civic Hall and St Andrews Church.
Monday 2 October
Monday Afternoon Bible Study
will not meet due to the public holiday.
However, Bible Study meets every Monday at 3pm at the church.
Sunday 22 October
Frontier Services service and Lunch
The Congregation agreed to have a cold chicken and salad lunch. Catering to be decided closer to the date.
The minutes of the Congregation Meeting held on 17 September are on the notice board at the back of the Church for your perusal.

Important Reading: ACT2 Update
The Uniting Church Assembly has been working on a whole Church Project named Act 2
giving possible Direction and Options for the Church to consider.
All Congregations are invited to read the Report and respond to what has been learnt.
At our Congregation meeting held on Sunday 17 Sep Lea Samuels offered to provide further information
for reading and discussion by Congregation members.
Copies of the Summary Report are now available for members to take and read.
Page 14 of the Full Report says “Communities of faith identified seven key areas that were hard, frustrating
or hindering ministry and mission:
• Ageing and declining community of faith
• Administration and compliance work
• Decline in volunteer capacity and skills
• Convoluted, time consuming wider church processes
• Tired and burnt out leaders and volunteers
• Effort and cost in maintaining buildings
• Decline in finances”
Other than the last point doesn’t this sounds like our situation?
Take a look at the report and consider some of the options proposed for change.
Many of these are administrative changes that just
might release us for activities closer to our joyous mission to serve!
Five copies of the final report have been printed for ease of reading and for circulation.
When you read the report, think about the options for change suggested and tell a member of Church Council
your ideas so that these can be considered at Council’s November meeting.
